Bad Karma

I found myself saying "well that's just bad karma" to a friend the other day and that got me to thinking...I wonder if bad karma, or karma in general, even exists?

I'm a religious gal so I try not to believe so much in 'luck' or 'fate' as I believe that things are all a part of God's plan.  However, I do believe that negativity can bring about more negativity and vice versa, which is why I try to treat people around me with respect as much as possible.  While on that note and having my mental debate I began to playback any times in my head where I may come across some bad karma of my own.  Had I done anything that deserved a payback kick-in-the-butt?

That's when it hit me.

The Bed, Bath & Beyond "incident".

How could I forget?  Oh sweet Jesus.  If ever I have done something that goes against all that's right, it was this.  Now, for the first time in my life, I go public.  Before telling the world what I (we, I had an accomplice) have done it is important that you all know that this is NOT like me.  I was terrified the whole time, I had sweaty palms and heart palpations during the "incident" and I regretted it immediately after.  So, what is this horrible karma crime you ask?

It all started with a puppy.  A puppy named Oscar Charles.  This puppy, our beloved little Bichon Frise/Yorkie mix, was quite the happy-go-lucky puppy and one that had - up until this point - a fairly clean track record training wise.  One day, my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I decided it was time for a new duvet cover & down comforter set for our bedroom.  Off we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond...picked up just what we wanted and got out of there.  The directions on the bag for the comforter called for us to lay it out completely and shake out the feathers.  So, we proceed to lay it out on our living room floor....I think you may be able to tell where I'm going with this now...

The pup immediately pounced.  It was as if he had never seen something so fluffy and so white.  Something so clean and pure.  He waddled out to the middle of the comforter and before we could bat an eyelash a yellow puddle began to seep out from underneath him.  Just as content as could be, Oscar Charles pranced away leaving behind a stinky pee disaster.  The hubbs and I just looked at each other, confused.  Oscar was doing great with potty training and had never had an issue with peeing in the house, so this was bizarre behavior and NOT acceptable.  We disciplined the pup, but we had bigger fish to fry.  What now?

Initially, of course, I thought 'well I'll just clean it up and it'll be fine, back to new'!  Nope.  An hour later, 3 squeegies, bleach, a vacuum and a hair dryer later, it still wasn't right.  This is where the humiliation begins.  We did what no other person would dare to think of.  We bagged that thing up and put together a return operation unlike any other:  I would take the 'soiled' comforter in the right door and distract the return desk lady with the return of our old comforter, while my husband runs in to the left door, makes a dash for a new comforter and purchases it.  Oh, and it worked too.  So sneaky and so so wrong.  Some undeserving consumer picked the WRONG comforter bag and ended up with a pee pad.  What can I say, we're not proud of what we did.  If ever in my life I've ever done something to deserve some bad karma coming my way, THAT would be it.  I'm not sure how it would come back to me...maybe in the form of sitting in some strange pee puddle.  Maybe this will end up with me on the "losing end" of the pee story this time.  Whatever happens I'm sure that whoever discovered their brand new pee comforter sat back and said "don't worry, that's bad karma, whoever did this will get it back someday".

I'll be on the lookout.

Tidbit for today:  My husband and I were able to go visit our neighbor's 4 day old baby last night though.  My, oh my, I have never been around a baby that NEW before.  What a great experience!  We were able to hold him, Logan James, a 10lb. 7oz.'er.  He was sweet and warm and so adorable.  That was my husband's first time holding a baby straight-from-the-womb and he did so great...he was a natural.  For now, we will live vicariously through them!
